This position will join the leadership team at Snowbird to enhance and drive technology success across all resort operations. We are rapidly scaling the next generation of customer service technologies and are looking for talented individuals with the collaboration mindset of a startup and the operational experience of an enterprise.
This role is positioned to have broad impact. You'll work closely with peers at other mountain properties to find innovative solutions to problems that directly impact the customer experience and the ski industry as a whole. We want you to be the person who takes on this role with a passion for meetings on the chair lift, bringing your family on their pass skiing, while we provide you with a great work/home life balance and more.
Under the direction of the Resort General Manager/President, The Director of IT will develop, manage and maintain the policies, goals and priorities of technology initiatives at Snowbird. This includes the plan, design and implementation of technology systems and projects. Responsibilities include business workflow initiatives and the retention and development of staff.
Position Functions / Areas of Responsibility

  • Understand customer and business needs and translate those concerns into actionable technology requirements and initiatives.
  • Communicate and champion technology roadmap effectively to executives and other stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the POWDR technology teams on special projects.
  • Ability to inspire others towards a vision, and influence in areas where they do not have authority.
  • System development: assesses corporate information needs. Decides best method to satisfy needs (e.g., in-house development, contract programming, etc.) and coordinating all programs with POWDR. Designs and/or specifies necessary systems. Oversees development, testing and implementation of systems. Designs and programs as necessary.
  • Develops and administers annual operating and capital budgets for the Technology department . Establishes, documents and maintains policies, standards, documentation, training and technical manuals. Ensures physical safety of equipment and the integrity of data.
  • Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates information technologies personnel.
  • Designs and plans systems and services that support achievement of corporate goals. Develops plans outlining progressive development of information technologies.
  • Manage contracts, statements of work, and onboarding and offboarding outside vendors.
  • Provide advanced network, telecom and systems support to technology team and end users.

      Education & Experience Requirements
      • College degree in related field preferred. Additional related work experience may be substituted for education.
      • 7+ years of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.
        Specific Requirements:Must be at least 21 years of age.Able to ski or snowboard preferred.
        Skills & KnowledgeTechnical:
        • Experience with large change management initiatives that span multiple business unit.
        • Experience with DevOps principles, automation, infrastructure-as-code.
        • Experience with cloud tools and methodologies (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
        • Experience managing Office 365, Active Directory, and other Microsoft technologies.
        • Experience with managing databases and Windows servers in a commercial environment-including disaster recovery, monitoring and alerting, and updates.
        • An understanding of business analysis techniques and requirements gathering.
        • Prefer experience managing Point of Sale solutions including software configurations, hardware installations and card processing solutions.
        • Knowledge and experience with lean or other agile processes.
        • Ability to identify and execute technology initiatives that have direct customer and business impact.
          Administrative:
          • Ability to communicate clearly and precisely in a variety of significant situations (such as training, explaining, creating clarity, and organizing priorities).
          • Ability to apply advanced logical and analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy.
          • Experience scheduling, coordinating and solving personnel problems (employment, retention, performance, promotion).
          • Ability to provide input into major decisions affecting policies or procedures within the corporate-wide information processing system.
            Working ConditionsWork Schedule:
            • Shifts could vary, maybe an early morning or late evening, weekends, holidays, depending on business levels.
              Mental:
              • Must be prepared to stay overnight, if necessary, on occasional times of road closures.
              • May experience unusual stress from high business volumes, deadlines, continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.
                Physical:
                • Work is routine in pleasant, comfortable surroundings. General office conditions prevail.
                • Snowbird will be requiring all current and new employees to have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by November 8, 2021 and be fully vaccinated by December 10, 2021. Anyone hired after November 8, 2021, will be required to show evidence that they have received at least one dose of the vaccine prior to employment and are required to be fully vaccinated within 30 days of their start date. Snowbird believes requiring all staff to be vaccinated is the best way to protect one another, our guests and our communities and is crucial to ending the pandemic.
