Director, Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology
In collaboration with physicians and organizational leadership, the Director of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology is responsible for the direction and leadership of operational, financial, strategic, programmatic, and personnel activities of the Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology service line. This includes establishing, continuously monitoring, and meeting departmental and organizational operational and strategic goals. The primary responsibilities of the Director is supporting daily operations, budgeting, managing finances, and developing a strategic plan in conjunction with physician leadership to promote growth and development of the service line. The Director coordinates the activities of the Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology service line across Granger Medical Clinic.
The Director of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology works closely with physicians, employees, and other organizational leaders; serves as the programmatic and operational leader for the department; and reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

Major Responsibilities
Departmental Leader


  • Providers an experience and environment of patient and family-centered care
  • Interprets the impact of broad scope organizational change for staff and develops change strategies for successful implementation
  • Incorporates Granger Medical Clinic's vision, mission, and values in the goals and programs within the service line
  • Develops and manages operational initiatives with measurable outcomes
  • Formulates objectives, goals, and strategies collaboratively with physicians and other stakeholders
  • Prepares and delivers reports outlining progress toward meeting annual goals and objectives, including performance related to finance, strategic initiatives, growth, and quality measures

    Financial Manager

    • Actively seeks opportunties to improve financial outcomes, engaging physicians and staff in the process
    • Establishes annual financial goals and actively uses benchmarking to high performing systems in similar areas of expertise to set annual targets
    • Monitors and analyzes financial data and utilizes for decisions regarding staffing and operational budgets
    • Establishes an annual operating budget, demonstrating fiscal responsibility through meeting or exceeding budget targets
    • Creates business plans to justify the cost benefit and fiscal impact of new or existing programs
    • Directs and provides guidance to providers and managers to effectively allocate resources based on patient volume; space availability; budget constraints; and program goals, priorities, and objectives


      Administrative Leader


      • Contributes to the success of the Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology program and Granger Medical Clinic by providing leadership, direction and coordination of operations, finances, and personnel management for all areas of responsibility
      • Continually assesses all services, identifies problems, utilizes data and observations to analyze and propose innovative approaches for solutions, and promotes best practices across all locations
      • Engages staff and other stakeholders in continuous improvement of systems and processes
      • Mentors staff in improvement efforts and the development of leadership skills
      • Organizes and prioritizes time and resources to manage efficiencies and appropriately delegates
      • Remains current of new trends and best practices and incorporates into the Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology practices and programs
      • Defines, articulates, and ensures standards for quality and safe patient care
      • Develops and implements innovative systems and processes that improve quality and safety, patient satisfaction, and provider and staff engagement
      • Demonstrates achievable and measurable results and develops action plans for improvement
      • Holds self and others accountable to policy, standards and commitments, and provides timely follow through on questions and concerns
      • Actively listens to provider and staff ideas and concerns and implements or addresses appropriately
      • Effectively facilitates meetings of the Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology department at the clinic and program level
      • Clearly and effectively communicates information in a timely, bidirectional, and nonthreatening manner
      • Demonstrates empathy and concerns while ensuring departmental goals are met
      • Manages the complex interdepartmental and interdisciplinary relationships to assure collaboration, coordination, and effective/efficient operations
      • Creates an environment that encourages diverse opinion and recognized differences and incorporates into processes and services
      • Exhibits self-awareness of personal attitudes, believes, and unconscious biases knowing the effect on responses and interactions with others
      • Creates a culture and systems for recognizing and rewarding staff

        Resource Manager

        • Creates and maintains a satisfying workplace that fosters professional growth and job satisfaction for all members of the team
        • Interviews to select top talent, matching the departmental needs with appropriate skillsets
        • Develops and implements recruitment and retention strategies that support a culture of leadership
        • Identifies and addresses own professional growth needs
        • Assesses clinical leadership and staff development needs, identifies goals, and provides appropriate resources
        • Identifies performance issues and establishes a corrective plan which includes goals, interventions, and measures
        • Maintains membership in professional organization(s) to develop knowledge and resources through networking, continuing education, and participation in local, regional, and/or national activities
        • Ensures integration of ethical standards and core values into everyday work activities


          Qualifications and Requirements

          • Bachelor's degree in business or healthcare administration required- MBA strongly preferred
          • 5 years of multi-site clinical management experience required- Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology experience strongly preferred
          • Clinical experience and/or training preferred
          • Proven ability to thrive in a highly matrixed environment
          • Strong financial aptitude with experience managing budgets and profit and loss statements
          • Rational and analytical approach with a friendly disposition; ability to remain calm in difficult situations
          • Excellent presentation, interpersonal and communication skills- written, verbal, and documentation
          • Excellent time management skills and ability to organize and prioritize workload in order to meet goals and deadlines
          • Ability to build consensus among cross-functional teams
          • Strong problem solving and negotiation skills
