The surgical facility nurse role at Millcreek Surgical Suite is a diverse role that enables this individual to exercise both leadership and customer service skills. It is the intent of Millcreek Surgical Suite / Mobley MD that each patient under our care has an experience that exceeds expectations. This is a Monday - Friday daytime position. As such, the surgical nurse will foster a culture of excellence and camaraderie amongst the clinical staff, while upholding the AAASF and other regulatory standards. This nursing position is a mixture of pre-op, OR circulating, and PACU with this nursing care being delivered in a single-room surgical facility caring for overall healthy and motivated plastic surgery patients. Please only apply IF: You have a minimum of 2 years PACU experience, excellent communication/phone skills, strong ethical and moral character, consider yourself an overachiever. We would view each of our providers (anesthesia, surgical tech, OR circulator, etc) as individuals in the top 10-15% of their field in terms of their professionalism and clinical skills. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of care and professionalism and expect any applicant to do the same. Job duties include: General Responsibilities: Review surgical charts prior to surgery and make pre-operative phone calls following our pre-operative questionnaire. o Key elements here are to screen patients to avoid things being missed that could result in last minute cancelations. Making sure health conditions are identified, screening for any blood thinners, and other contra-indications should be a focus of this screening. Further, any medical history that could be a concern for the patients safety must be brought to the attention of the surgeon and or anesthesia staff. o Ensure patients have their prescriptions two weeks prior to surgery Prepare patient for surgery including all necessary documentation, patient assessment, post-operative patient education Direct patient care, pre-op assessment, circulate, and post-operative management and post-op recovery. Assure compliance with federal and state regulations. Assists with personnel scheduling to make sure adequate staffing is available on all surgical days. MSS maintains an extensive list of PRN RNs and planning ahead to have appropriate RN staffing levels is a key element of this position. Become very familiar with our EMR systems (Patient Now and Weave) to best be able to provide well documented quality care to patients of MSS and MMD. Works with surgical tech and vendors to make sure we are appropriately stocked with supplies to provide safe, efficient and quality health care. Make sure all documentation is properly entered into Patient Now. Most often this requires scanning documents at the end of each OR day. Performs daily/weekly/ monthly maintenance per policies and procedures. Some duties here (but not limited to) would include- checking the generator, emergency eye wash station, checking the crash cart, and other related normal inspections. Assist with peer review of charts as required by AAAASF. Assist with incident reporting/unanticipated sequela reporting. Develop appropriate new documents as needs arise. Look for way to implement CQI (continuous quality improvement) policies to better the facility and its care of patients. Verifies compliance with policies and procedures and regulatory/accreditation standards. (Currently our main regulatory national body is AAAASF). Assists with staff meeting preparation and in-services, if/when needed. Communicate with staff to foster communication and opportunities for improvement in leadership Reviews surgical/ peri-surgical charting for accuracy and completion. Job Type: Full-time Pay: $28.00 - $37.00 per hour COVID-19 considerations: We follow all applicable county, state and national COVID workplace guidelines.
